Born in The Cromarty Firth
Our Scottish firm, Safety Welding & Lifting (International) Ltd – better known by its acronym, SWL – was founded in the port town of Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth in response to the demand for goods and services generated by Scotland’s frantic North Sea oil industry in the 1990s.
As industry has increased in and around Invergordon so too has the demand for our services, particularly our reliable sales, hire, repair and maintenance of lifting equipment.
Expansion & Growth
Our business grew rapidly, expanding not only in reputation and services offered, but we have also extended our reach beyond the Highlands of Scotland to supply lifting gear and accessories nationally, and internationally. The firm was bought by Rosskeen Holdings (McDonald Scaffolding Group) in 2015.
While our core business remains centred on lifting equipment, we have developed a Fire Safety and an Electrical Division, which have proved not only complementary to the safety element of our operations, but also highly successful enterprises in their own right.
We believe that the secret to our success is our commitment to customer service, our focus on safety and compliance, and our insistence on high standards of quality, in the products we sell and hire out, and the skills of our workforce.
Our Credentials
You can rest assured that our lifting engineers are fully qualified and highly trained, and our company has all the accreditations and certifications necessary to offer you an efficient, safe service, meeting – and indeed exceeding – all regulatory standards.
We are full members of the LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association, the industry body which sets lifting standards worldwide, and we work in full compliance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) approved code of practice.
For our clients we offer a unique online system known as WEBCERT. This is an online portal which allows registered users to retrieve the certification for their lifting equipment at any time.
